Students served by IESBVI are eligible to sign up for extracurricular sports and activities. Really! Even though our 600+ students live across the state in different school districts, the mighty IESBVI Extended Learning Program staff has mad logistic skills and prepares IESBVI for competitions. Zooms, partnerships with the student’s school and passionate IESBVI coaching staff make it possible.
Students who are blind or visually impaired can currently participate in:
- Track & Field
- Goalball
- Wrestling
- Cheerleading
- Sam the Ram Mascot
- **NEW!** Bowling
- Swimming
- Forensics
Rams compete with other schools for the blind and visually impaired through the North Central Association of Schools for the Blind (NCASB). We travel to various schools for the competitions, and IESBVI students must demonstrate a high degree of independence and self-care.
Students are eligible once they are in the seventh grade/14 years old up to 20 years as of Sept. 1 of the current school year. Students must be eligible for extracurricular activities according to the their school district. The Iowa athletic physical forms must be completed for participation.
