2024-25 School Year Vacancies:
Substitute Driver/Chaperone – Expanded Learning Program
IESBVI’s Extended Learning Program currently needs a part-time (on call, as needed) driver/chaperone. Looking for mature, responsible applicants who can assure the safety and well-being of school aged, blind and visually impaired students and who can effectively communicate with parents and other school employees. Duties include operating a school vehicle and supervising students being transported for special events including but not limited to statewide events, athletic practices and meets during the school year and day camps during the summer months. May include local travel and longer trips throughout
Iowa. Continuously applying safe driving practices and observing applicable state laws governing the operation of motor vehicles.
Applicant must have satisfactory criminal history, sexual offenders, child and adult abuse registry background checks before hire. Driver positions also require Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records check.
Compensation: $20.22 per hour; no benefits
Appointment Type: Substitute — On-call/As-needed work
Qualifications: POSITION REQUIRES possession of a current chauffeur’s license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS include experience working with students in an education setting or previous student transportation work.
Additional Info: Hours vary based on extended learning programming needs. Possible routes may start in Sioux City, Sioux Center, Ames or Council Bluffs area. Local routes not guaranteed. May include longer trips across the state of Iowa, possible weekends.
